how to live an extraordinary life

Have you ever wanted to shed your normal life and replace it with an extraordinary one? The reality is that the majority of people will never have an extraordinary life because they refuse to get off the path of an ordinary one. Only those that possess grit and resilience will be able to make the transition.

Reprogramming your mind is a powerful tool in creating a new life for yourself. When you can visualize a great out-come, miracles will happen. You'll have a new mindset for success that will enable you to do the activities that will get you to your new reality.

I decided a long time ago that a “normal” life would not fulfill me. The rocky road to an extraordinary life has been hell at times. I’ve made many mistakes in my personal and business life. Many of those mishaps have been in front a large audience of critics that were quick to point out my shortcomings.

The first major step for me was counseling. It was back in 1996 that I first started realizing that many of my perceptions about life were rooted in fear. I started seeing that it was me that was in the way of achieving success and not everyone else sabotaging me.

I underwent some serious emotional recovery of the wreckage of my past. My history is full of broken relationships, intense shame, self-loathing and addictions. In recovery, I am doing what I love to do which is helping others to find happiness.

What does a happy life mean? For many professionals it’s the conventional “normal” type of life that is balanced between family, work, spirituality and recreation. On the other hand, I help entrepreneurs, leaders and athletes to have an extraordinary life. Both of these types of clients have in common that I help them to reframe any dysfunctional perceptions that are creating self-sabotaging behaviors.

I’ve observed that my clients that want an extraordinary life share the following mindsets listed below. If you are among those that want to have that kind of life these concepts are for you. Even if you aren’t willing to make the huge sacrifices to get outside the norm, these ideas can help you too.

live an extraordinary life

1. Don’t be unwilling to take necessary risks. In order to leave an ordinary “normal” life behind you have to be a risk taker. Many people don’t have the stomach to take the risks necessary in going after an extraordinary life. The possibility of failing in front of everyone can be overwhelming and disabling.

2. Don’t be unwilling to go through the pain of evolution. The world we live in today is a result of millions of years of evolution. That process required radical changes. Personal evolution is painful and also requires radical changes. Many people are unwilling to go through the pain of evolution in leaving their normal life.

The more you evolve into the best version of yourself, the more you’ll be required to give up. Your personal relationships might have to be redefined. Your income might fluctuate and be unstable for a while. You may have to change your course of action many times in order to get the results that you are looking to achieve.

1. Become a student. First gain the insight about where you are in your life’s journey. Becoming self-aware will give you valuable insight into the areas of improvement that need to be addressed. Along the way you will also learn about your deeper strengths and how you can leverage them. From there, get the education formal or informal that you need, to get you on the path to your extraordinary new life.

2. Become Fearless. You have to be willing to give up the safety nets that are keeping you trapped in a “normal” life. Be willing to give up the 9-5 job that gives you a steady paycheck and benefits. Understand that working for someone else usually means that you are helping them to live their extraordinary life and not your own. This is one of the hardest fears to overcome and it takes a long time to really sink in for even the most dedicated entrepreneurs, adventurers, and risk-takers.

As mentioned before you might have to redefine your personal relationships. Is your spouse on board with leaving a “normal” life? Family and friends can be the least supportive and appear to sabotage your success. Most of the time these people don’t mean to harm you. More than likely they have goodwill and love you and don’t want to see harm come your way. Keep in mind that they may not have been able to overcome their fears in living an extraordinary life for themselves.

Ultimately, you have to be willing to sacrifice to achieve an extraordinary life. It will be hard. It won’t be pleasant. Partnering with a life coach will help you to gain insight about the reality of where you are in life today. I will help you to gain the confidence that you need to take fearless action. You will have the unbiased encouragement when implementing your action plan. I will also help you to navigate through the storms when your coarse needs to be altered in getting to your extraordinary new life.

Is it all worth it? Those that have the grit and resilience think so. Your extraordinary life will be more rewarding than a normal life could ever be. Your relationships, finances, health, knowledge, passion, and purpose will all reach levels higher than ever before.
